Getting your skink home

Shipping & Pickup

I don't post animals through a courier. Here's how I get your skink to you safely instead.

No courier shipping I won't send live animals by post or parcel service. It's stressful and risky for a small arboreal skink, and I'd rather hand every one over in person or at an event. So the options below are all about meeting up.

Your options

1. Pickup: preferred

Collecting in person is my first choice. You see the animal and its setup, I can answer questions face to face, and the skink travels the shortest possible distance in your care. If you can come to me, that's ideal.

2. Terraristika, Hamm (Germany)

I regularly visit Terraristika in Hamm, the big European reptile show. If you're attending, I can bring your reserved skink there to hand over, arrange it with me in advance so I know to bring it.

3. Reptile expo, Houten (Utrecht)

I also attend the reptile expo in Houten (Utrecht, Netherlands). Same deal: reserve ahead and I'll bring your animal to the show for a hand-over.

4. Drop-off to Utrecht, small fee

If none of the above works, I can bring your skink to Utrecht for a small fee to cover the trip. Ask me and I'll sort out a time and place.

5. Coming from another European country

Hamm and Houten are the practical answer for most people outside the Netherlands, and plenty of buyers travel to one or the other. Before you make the trip, check the rules where you live. I have collected what I could verify, country by country, on the keeping them in Europe page.

How to arrange it Reserve a baby and tell me which option suits you, pickup, Hamm, Houten, or the Utrecht drop-off. Get in touch through the shop or the contact form, and I'll set it up.

Before travel day

  • Have the enclosure set up and stable before collection, so the skink goes straight into the right conditions.
  • Keep the trip short and the animal warm and dark in transit, a small, ventilated tub in an insulated bag.
  • Read the husbandry and handling pages so the first weeks go smoothly.
